Nathan Dick
I am a neuroaffirming Gestalt therapist and supervisor-in-training. I specialise in supporting adults to grow in security, emotional maturity, and responsibility, allowing them to become more responsive and available in their important relationships, and ultimately to live a more enriched life.
My approach is warm, approachable, and non-judgemental. I invite clients to challenge or correct me if I have misunderstood them, and I recognise how risky and difficult that can feel. When this happens, I strive to acknowledge and listen deeply so clients feel truly heard. For many, this becomes a crucial corrective emotional experience.
I am committed to creating a safe, inclusive, and anti-oppressive space that is:
Neurodiversity affirming
LGBTIQA+ friendly
NDIS friendly
Poly and non-monogamy friendly
Sex worker friendly
Kink friendly
Fat friendly
My greatest skills as a therapist come from lived experience. I learn every day from being a parent, partner, mentor, son, brother, uncle, and friend. Culture, neurodiversity, power, attachment theory, trauma, and embodiment are particular interests that shape the way I practice. I especially enjoy helping people reconnect with their bodies, make sense of their emotions, heal past hurts, and create new neural pathways by fostering secure bonds with themselves and others.
As a neurodivergent therapist, I work relationally and holistically, supporting clients to de-shame and normalise their experiences while also exploring neurostyle (wiring) and contact styles. Together, we build a foundation for self-acceptance and self-advocacy, while gently updating fixed Gestalts, creative adjustments, and relational patterns.
I draw on Gestalt Therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy, and Depth Enquiry to support clients in processing unfinished business, trauma, anxiety, and internalised messages. My aim is always to co-create a therapeutic relationship that offers safety, healing, and growth.
