Couples + Relationships
Every relationship has its weather. Some seasons are easy, and others ask more of us than we know how to give on our own. Coming to therapy together isn't a sign that something has failed, more often it's a sign that the relationship matters enough to you both to heal.
What couples bring
People come to relationship work for all sorts of reasons — some sharp and pressing, some quieter and harder to name. Often it's some of these:
The same argument, on repeat, with no real way out
Feeling more like housemates than lovers, or slowly drifting apart
A breach of trust — an affair, a secret, a betrayal — and the question of whether and how to rebuild
Intimacy and sex that's faded, mismatched, or hard to talk about
Conversations that keep misfiring, no matter how good the intentions
Big transitions — moving in together, marriage, a new baby, illness, the kids leaving, retirement
Opening up, or finding your footing in ENM, poly or open relationships
Co-parenting, and the family-of-origin patterns that keep resurfacing
Wanting to deepen and protect something that's already good
What it's like to work together
Our rooms are a neutral, steady place where each of you can feel heard — not refereed. Through honest, often hard conversations, we'll slowly make sense of the patterns you've fallen into, the tender places underneath the tension, and the deeper needs each of you is reaching for. Sometimes that means looking back at the families and stories you each come from, and how they’ve shaped the way you love now.
We draw on approaches like the Gottman Method, Emotionally Focused Therapy and attachment science as a way of better understanding you and your relationship. These provide us with useful roadmaps that can help untangle some of the knots we all find ourselves in when in relationships.
We work with relationships of every shape — monogamous, open, poly, ENM, queer and everything in between. You won't have to explain or justify the way you love before the real work can begin.
This work isn't only about resolving conflict, though relief from that matters too. It's about finding new ways to reach each other, building a foundation that can hold weight, and growing an intimacy that lasts; the kind that comes from being deeply known.
Whether you're hoping to heal old wounds, find your way back to one another, or simply grow together more intentionally, you don't have to work it out alone. When you're ready, reach out and we'll help you take the first step.
